How things change... [Oct. 26th, 2006|07:49 pm]

Wes says doing would be good for me. Keeping a detailed record of the things we do in New York City. I guess I can come back from time-to-time and look through it and remember things. Not that I have a bad memory. I don't know. Maybe he's doing it as some sort of punishment because I spilt water on one of his books.

I'm a Slayer, and this is my Slayer Diary. No, not diary. Diaries are pink books little girls write in and draw hearts on. This is a journal. How adult does that sound?

My first Watcher died so mom and I moved to Sunnydale. Not because my Watcher died, but because my parents split up and mom wanted a new start for us. And along with that new start came a new Watcher. God, she was a hag. She was mean to all of us, and lectured me for hours about my true calling.

Finally, the Council bought a clue and fired her. That's about the time Faith showed up but this isn't about Faith. It's about Wes, who became my new Watcher. Sure, he was all stuffy, but he was a lot nicer than that other one. I can't even say her name without shuddering. Anyway, Wes was a lot nicer, and better on the eyes.

Faith didn't like him, but I did. As did Cordy, who batted her eyelashes a few times and soon Wes was all over her. Will said I was jealous, but I wasn't! At least not that much. Okay, I was really jealous because I wanted Wesley to look at me like that!

Long story short, we destroyed the school. And along with destroying it, we closed the Hellmouth for good. Faith went to prison for murder, Will went to Stanford, Xan stayed in Sunnydale, and I moved to New York City to go to Columbia University.

New York City is amazing with all its different cultures. It also has some nasty vamps, which I met two weeks after moving here. I really thought I was going to get away from slaying here, but I guess not. And to make matters worse, there was something strange going on and I knew I couldn't handle it myself.

I thought about calling Angel, but he would've brooded instead of helping so I called Wes. And he came out to help. That was a year ago.

I can't believe it's been a year.

Not like Wes and I have been together this entire time. We did get an apartment together because it's hard to hide my weapons in a dorm room. The apartment's nice, but kind of crowded. We bumped into each other a lot. And that high school crush? Yeah, it was still there and that made living with him even harder but I managed...almost.

We were busy though with fighting off demons and vamps. It was hard to go to college and be a Slayer so I cut back on the class load. Wes and I even started our own little business. Clients meet us at O'Dell's Coffee Shop. It was hard at first but now people respect us and are always asking us for help. And we make money, which is always of the good.

As for Wes and I...well, it took us a while to get there but we're finally dating. It was weird at first but now it's good. There was a lot of giggling but we got over that. And we no longer sleep in different rooms. And I'm sure you didn't need to know that. But, I like him...a lot. More than a lot. I love him but I just haven't told him yet.

And I'm so sure this isn't what this journal is for. I'm probably supposed to be recording all the big beasties we've killed. I can't help it! I'm a girl...in a relationship...with a hot British guy. Can you blame me? After crushing on him for almost two years, we're finally together. And he's not Angel.

With a sigh, Buffy closed the journal and stretched out on the bed. Wes and her had just gotten back from killing a Sl'tek demon, in the rain. It's been cold and Buffy had went straight to bed to warm up. Once she'd gotten settled, she finished with her calculus homework and picked up the blank journal.

Now, she was wondering why Wes hadn't came to bed yet. After setting the journal on top of her school books, she slipped out of the bed. She shivered again and picked up the blanket and wrapped it around her body. Buffy didn't know if she'd ever get warmed up.

Stepping out into the living room, she smiled when she saw Wes on the couch, surrounded by books. She went over to him and sat down beside him. "Why haven't you came to bed yet?" she asked as she picked up one of the books and made a face at the picture in it. "You would want to look at this than cuddle with me?"

She gave him an amused look before softly kissing his cheek.

Once the words were out of her mouth, Buffy grimaced. What in the heck was she thinking? Wesley wouldn't want to marry her. She was too young and a Slayer. Slayers rarely lived long enough to get married and have children. They weren't supposed to marry their Watchers, and she was pretty sure Wesley was going to laugh at her.

When he sat up and pulled her to his lap, she waited for him to let her down. Buffy looked at him and opened her mouth to tell him to forget about it when he spoke first. Wait, what? Wesley wanted to marry her? "You better not be teasing me. I can kick your butt all over the place, you know," she said, giving him a stern look.

But, when he kissed her, Buffy suddenly knew he was being serious. Breaking the kiss, she stared at him and then smiled. She had always dreamed of getting married. Those dreams were put on hold when she was with Angel, but now with Wesley it was different. Maybe she was damned to be the Slayer for her rest of her life but she was going to love Wesley as if she had forever.

"I love you," she murmured before wrapping her arms around him. She held him for a few moments before remembering they had plans. "Not to sound like you, but we really need to get to the bookstore and see what's up with the big bads."

Even though he knew she was being serious, Wesley couldn't help but chuckle when Buffy threatened to kick his arse if he was messing with her and shook his head. He would never do that to her. Ever. "I'm not taking the mickey, love. I really do want to marry you."

After their kiss broke, he returned her smile, running the back of his hand over her temple. He wasn't sure when they'd find time or where they'd get married, but he knew that they would. They'd make the time. They'd find the place. And it would be everything they wanted. This was their life together, and it nothing else mattered.

"I love you too," he murmured, holding her close and resting his head to hers. He would have been content to stay there for the rest of the day until she reminded him that they had to go to the bookstore. They definitely needed to do that. And he needed to find a shop where he could find Buffy a ring. Even if she couldn't wear it when she was slaying, he wanted her to have one.

Gently nudging her off of him, Wesley went back to the bathroom and grabbed some flannels, bringing them back and using them to clean both of them off. Once he had, he headed to the closet to get some clothing since it wouldn't due for them to go out naked.

"Is it still raining or has it finally stopped," he asked as he pulled a shirt and pair of trousers off some hangers.
